Montcalm Community College prepares students for great careers in high-demand, high-wage fields.

Apprenticeship Training (Certificate)

This program prepares students for certification by the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training. Apprenticeship programs are completed in collaboration with the student’s current employer. Instruction for machinists, electricians, mold-and-die makers, welders and others is available. Current Journeyman status, verified by the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training, is awarded 29 credits toward the Skilled Trades Associate Degree.

Business Administration – Management (AAS)

This program leads to an associate of applied science degree with an emphasis in management and provides the skills necessary for an entry-level job in the fields of management and supervision, which may include human resources, training or development. Agreements with several universities allow students a seamless transfer to complete their bachelor’s degree, while completing up to three years of study at MCC.

Computer Support Technology (AAS)

Completion of this program creates opportunities for transfer to a four-year university for specialization in specific computer career fields such as web design or computer science. This program also prepares students with the skills and content for COMPTIA A+ certification. Associate-degree holders may be qualified for entry level positions such as help-desk technicians or computer support technicians. Agreements with several universities allow students a seamless transfer to complete their bachelor’s degree, while completing up to three years of study at MCC.

Medical Office Administration (AAS)

Completion of this program prepares students who wish to specialize in medical transcription and medical office procedures for employment or advancement. Entry-level positions may include medical secretary or administrative assistant. Agreements with several universities allow students a seamless transfer to complete their bachelor’s degree, while completing up to three years of study at MCC.

Nursing (AAS)

Completion of this program prepares students for employment opportunities as nurses. This program is designed to provide the credits necessary for eligibility for practical nursing licensure, registered nursing licensure and transferability for a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Agreements with several universities allow students a seamless transfer to complete their bachelor’s degree, while completing up to three years of study at MCC.

Skilled Trades (AAS)

This innovative program is designed for individuals who already hold a current journeyman card that is recognized by the State of Michigan, or the U.S. Department of Labor. Students who provide appropriate documentation verifying their journeyman status will receive 29 credits for SKTR295. Students must then complete all general education coursework at MCC, and as many suggested electives as necessary to earn at least 60 credits. Certified and well-trained job candidates are in high demand for positions such as electricians, HVAC specialists, aviation mechanics, tool-and-die makers and welders.

Web Developer & Programming (AAS)

This program is designed for students interested in gaining the skills needed for server-side web design. This program focuses on programming and scripting of websites for business and industry by providing hands-on experience in interfacing web applications with legacy applications. Agreements with several universities allow students a seamless transfer to complete their bachelor’s degree, while completing up to three years of study at MCC.
